Use YouTube & Social Media Networks to test your music
Once upon a time, artists pretty much had no other
choices but to get out and perform city to city; club-to-club; event-to-event, all to try to create a "following"
or fan base. This was pretty much the main way people could know about you and your music. Of course there's also been the
popular Mixtape promotions over the years for an artist to get on a music compilation project where new music would be part
of other artist's music or maybe a specific release of a "sound" of music - in hopes of getting exposure as fans
bought the compilation CDs packed with a variety of songs, the consumer would then discover new music and talent.
As far as live events and performances - artists
traditionally had go out and do live events to not only go and make a living and do promotions, but artists would never know
who might be in the audience at their shows. These have not only been proven ways that talent have created a "buzz"
or "movement", but for the most part, these were some of the only options available to become known...at least until
recent times. Now, new talent and established artist can also use Social Media Networks and the web as their new frontier
to build a fan base and "buzz".
Social media basically allows users to get information
and communicate in an interactive exchange using the web and mobile technology. Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and YouTube are
all considered Social Media Network sites. With this new technology comes a new way to gain fans and create a buzz.... And
truly find out what you have. In the present day, social media sites and especially YouTube has played an enormous role in
new talent getting exposure, fans, and also getting the attention of industry players; managers, agents, producers, labels,
etc. YouTube has been responsible for many different artists getting there big break and chance to be heard. If you really
want to find out what you have going on and get some feedback, post it on YouTube, or some other popular social media online
environment, and trust me - people will tell you if you really have something they like (or don't like)
