In Radio - What is a Program Director & Music Director?

Radio Music Director

The Music Director at a radio station auditions new music, and makes decisions (sometimes in conjunction with the Program Director) as to which songs get airplay-how much and when. The Music Director formulates the rotation of songs, and at most radio stations today, programs the daily music. (Courtesy of About.com)

Radio Program Director

A Program Director is the behind-the-scenes person in charge that oversees all of the production at a radio station. Radio program directors decide which programs and commercials will be broadcast, as well as determining music play lists. Program Directors schedule programming, they interview, hire and prepare DJs and other on-air talent, along with producers, news directors and reporters. (Courtesy of eHow.com and voices.yahoo.com)
