Music Managers

A music manager or personal manager in the music industry is a person who helps the artist, producer or songwriter in the growth and supervision of his or her music career.

Here are just a few of the many duties and actions a manager can assist you with:

· Helping you to get your image, bio, and media package together
· Arranging photo sessions and putting you with the right photographers
· Helping you to select songs
· Helping you get the right producer or production situation
· Getting you in a studio to record your music
· Finding featured vocalists and musicians for your project
· Getting labels and publishers to hear your music
· Setting up agents and promoters to get you booked for performances

Normally, a music management company will also play a vital role in securing other interests; publishing, endorsements, television, and possibly film work. He or she essentially is the most important person that's going to be out there on the grind, planning and helping you put your marketing and publicity campaigns together. This is why it's so important to have a manager who's on-point! After all, most times it will be your manager who will be professionally representing you to the rest of the music industry and the entertainment business world.

A foremost concern in seeking a competent manager is making sure the person has knowledge in the music business or entertainment industry.  The manager’s understanding, status, and awareness of the industry will also help persuade the other people you may need on your side.  He or she will need to be proficient in discussing contracts, and doing business with others in the music trade on a level that is respected.

Business Manager

A business manager is normally a hired representative who will help you with your financial planning, investments, taxes, collecting revenue from contracts, and other financial matters.

Because your business manager / accountant will be responsible for paying out commissions and making deposits into your account from performances, royalties and advances, etc., make sure you have knowledge of all your expenditures.

Entertainment & Music Consultants

Entertainment Consultants create the necessary tools for building a successful marketing, promotional, and sales/retail plan for any product.  Entertainment consultants are also a crucial component for producers, recording artists, or independent record labels who want to break into the music and entertainment industry professionally. Most consultant and management firms have their own list of services. Most consultant tactics and strategies include imaging, coordinating special fundraising events, visibility on local, regional and national television and radio shows, various promotional activities, flyers, newsletters, news releases, and e-blasts.

Consultants also help create themes, and slogans.  Publicizing you and your brand is our business.  Consultants should work hand in hand with booking agents to secure you bookings for performances, in-store appearances, parties, etc.  Some consulting firms even offer coordination with labels from conception to retail, including raising label copy, and assisting with the proposal concepts for both niche and mass media markets.  Consultants provide effective releases with relevant PR and promotional agencies for evaluating and analyzing the effectiveness of respective marketing campaigns and providing feedback on the project’s success.
